Does Thermage Work for Jawline Sagging and Jowls?

Minimally invasive skin rejuvenation options like Thermage have become very attractive professional skin care options. Why? Because there are no incisions, no pain, and no downtime, so it’s the ideal solution for people with busy lifestyles. Thermage works quickly to rejuvenate the face, leaving it smoother and tighter. But does thermage work for jawline sagging and jowls.

Thermage Skin Tightening Treatment
Thermage is a non-invasive skin tightening treatment that is safe for use on the face and body, but it is more often requested for facial rejuvenation to smooth the skin, and improve contours. Thermage is suitable for all skin types.

Thermage uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to encourage collagen production, thereby stimulating the skin’s natural renewal process. As new collagen is produced in the months after treatment, the skin will look healthier and more youthful.

The device heats the deep dermal layers of the skin while simultaneously cooling the surface of the skin, as the doctor makes multiple passes over the area being treated.

Can Thermage work for jawline sagging and jowls
Thermage is highly effective for lower face rejuvenation and can correct lack of definition in the jawline, as well as loose jowls. The procedure is meant to treat mild to moderate sagging; therefore it will produce better results for patients with minimal skin laxity.

When the jawline is tighter, this will reduce the appearance of jowls. The skin will be noticeably smoother and tighter after treatment, and the results typically last 2 to 3 years.

Is facial laser hair removal safe?

In the last couple of years, laser hair removal has become the preferred treatment to get rid of unwanted facial hair. Laser hair removal is much quicker than traditional methods, and the advanced cooling system makes it less painful. But is facial laser hair removal safe?

Laser hair removal
The laser energy targets the pigment in the hair follicles, and generates heat that destroys the follicles. As a result, there can be no further hair growth. Laser hair removal should not be done on tanned skin, as the laser will target both the hair and the dark skin.

Is facial laser hair removal safe?
Innovations in technology have made it possible to use lasers to safely remove unwanted facial hair. Most patients have the procedure done without experiencing any serious side effects, but there are some important guidelines to follow.

The best way to ensure safety, and reduce any possible complications, is to have the procedure performed by a board certified dermatologist, or other trained medical professional.

The medical practitioner should have in-depth knowledge of the skin, as well as requisite training in the correct use of the laser. The laser being used should also be suitable for your skin type and hair texture.

Laser hair removal does have the potential to be dangerous, as it can cause burns or changes in skin color. That is exactly why you need to see a qualified and experienced medical practitioner. If you are contemplating the procedure, be sure to get a thorough evaluation by a dermatologist, to determine if you are a good candidate.

keep skin hydrated

What are the best products or treatments to keep skin hydrated during the winter?

Your skin faces a lot of stress in the winter because of the dry, rough weather both inside and outside.  So it’s important to give your skin the moisture it needs to beat the winter damage. Wondering what are the best products or treatments to keep skin rejuvenated during the winter? Below are some great options to include in your winter skin care regimen.

Using moisturizing products will provide the protection you need, so that you don’t have dry skin all winter.

1.    Cream cleansers: Cream cleansers have more moisture when compared to other options such as gel cleansers. Gel-based cleansers are fine for summer, but they can dry out your skin in winter. Cream cleansers keep your skin properly moisturized and healthy during the winter.

2.    Thick creams: Thicker creams nourish and deeply moisturize the skin. They also provide a protective barrier to help the skin retain moisture.

3.    Face balms: Balms are exactly what your skin needs in the winter months to refresh it during the day, and keep it calm and hydrated at night.

4.    Use sunscreen: Exposure to the sun’s UV rays is also a danger in winter, so a good sunblock will go a long way in protecting the skin.

5.    Get extra treatment for your skin: At Gallaher Plastic Surgery & Spa we offer the HydraFacial treatment to moisturize your skin. HydraFacial hydrates, deep cleans, exfoliates, and resurfaces your skin. It also stimulates collagen, and fixes the drying effects of the winter air.

Contact Gallaher Plastic Surgery & Spa, with offices in Knoxville and Powell, TN, for treatments that will save your skin from dryness, and beat back winter damage. Call 865-671-3888 for a consultation with one of our experienced aestheticians.

Do FUE Hair Transplants work differently for women versus men?

Hair loss was once a hidden epidemic, but it’s now being discussed more openly, especially among men. Thinning on top is much more common in men than it is with women; so men very often choose to undergo hair transplant surgery to halt hair loss. This is often done with the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) method.  But do FUE hair transplants work differently for women versus men?

FUE Hair Transplant
Hair transplant surgery has been around for many years, but advances in technology have improved the quality of restoration, and made the process more efficient.

FUE is now done using automated instruments that extract clusters of hair from the donor site at the back of the head. The hairs are then individually transferred to the balding spot. It creates a natural pattern of hair growth, without any visible scarring.

Are FUE transplants different for women and men?
The FUE technique works the same for women as it does for men. However, the donor area needs to be shaved for the transplant, and this can be trickier for women with long hair. Some doctors are careful to shave only the portion of the scalp and leave the surrounding hair long, so that the tiny scars are well-hidden while the hair grows back.

Who is a good candidate?
People suffering with mild to moderate baldness, are generally good candidates for hair transplant surgery. However, they also need to have sufficient quantity of donor hair on the back of the head, or on the sides of the scalp.
