When Can I Return To Work After A Facelift?

If you are thinking about having a facelift, the recovery process is probably one aspect of the procedure you are very concerned about.  Above all, you certainly want to know when you can return to work after a facelift, so that you can get the time-off needed to recover fully.

What can a facelift do for you?

A facelift is a facial rejuvenation procedure that is designed to reduce signs of aging on the face.  It lifts and tightens the skin and reduces the appearance of folds and wrinkles, resulting in a more youthful appearance.

What to expect after a facelift

Recovery times after facelift surgery varies among patients, as it depends on the extent of the procedure performed.  There is generally some swelling and bruising after surgery, but whereas the bruising typically resolves within 1-2 weeks, it can take several months for the swelling to fully subside.   Patients may also experience some post-op pain, but this can be controlled with prescription medication (learn more).

When Can I Return To Work After A Facelift?

As long as your job does not involve heavy lifting or strenuous activity, you should be able to return to work about 10-14 days after surgery.  Most of the swelling should be down by this time, so you should feel comfortable going outside. However, if you have a physically demanding job, you may need an additional 1-2 weeks off work.

If you would like to achieve natural looking facelift results that last a long time, it’s important to choose an experienced board certified plastic surgeon with the requisite skill and technique.
