What are the best areas of the face to get Botox injections, and how safe is it?

Botox has become famous for its ability to rejuvenate the face and refresh the appearance. But although it is widely used as a cosmetic treatment, botox should not be injected everywhere, because it is only suited for specific areas.  So what are the best areas to get botox injections? Let’s take a look.

Where does botox work best?
Botox works best on dynamic wrinkles, particularly those in the upper face. Dynamic wrinkles are formed as a result of normal facial expressions such as smiling, squinting, or frowning. When the skin is young, it is able to quickly bounce back after these muscle motions, but as the skin ages, the dynamic lines become permanent.

The most common dynamic wrinkles are the lines across the forehead, frown lines between the eyebrows (glabella lines), and lines at the corner of the eyes (crow’s feet). These are the best areas of the face to get botox injections. Medical practitioners have used botox in these areas for many years, in order to effectively smooth those annoying wrinkles.

How botox helps dynamic wrinkles
Botox inhibits the nerve impulses normally sent to the muscles, and because they no longer receive the signal to contract, the muscles relax.  This makes the skin smoother and also causes the wrinkles to soften. Although the lines will  reappear after the effects of botox have worn off, they are usually less severe.

How safe is botox?
Botox is a very safe cosmetic treatment, and side effects are rare. However, botox injections should only be done by a trained medical professional (learn more).
