How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last

How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last

Are you thinking of getting dermal fillers to counteract signs of facial aging?  Wrinkles, sagging cheeks, and thin lips are some of the telltale signs of facial aging that can be addressed with dermal fillers.  But how long do dermal fillers last?

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are cosmetic injectables that rejuvenate the skin and create a more youthful appearance.  They can be used to reduce facial lines and wrinkles, and restore volume to the soft tissues to improve facial balance and symmetry.

How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?

The longevity of a dermal filler varies depending on the individual properties of the filler.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane are among the most popular dermal fillers now available.  HA is a substance that occurs naturally in the body and keeps the skin hydrated.  When HA fillers are injected into the skin they attract water.  The added moisture hydrates the skin, helping to fill in wrinkles and fine lines.

HA fillers can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. The material gradually breaks down over time, and the particles are absorbed by the body.

Other dermal fillers include those made of calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) and  Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA).  Radiesse is a CaHA filler that typically lasts 12 months, and  Sculptra is a PLLA filler that lasts for approximately 2 years.

Radiesse and Sculptra are collagen stimulators, so they help to promote the body’s natural production of collagen.  The collagen remodeling process takes place over several months, so the effects are long-lasting.

How much does a HydraFacial cost

The cost of a HydraFacial varies depending on your location, specific course of treatment, and the provider you choose.   The cost of a HydraFacial can range from $50 to $300 per session, with an average price of about  $150 per session.  In addition to the cost of a basic HydraFacial, there are add-on treatments that vary in price from $25 to $50 each.

Is microneedling painful?

Is microneedling painful?

Are you trying to get rid of acne scars, wrinkles, or sun damage?  You can refresh your skin with microneedling.  Microneedling is a collagen-stimulating therapeutic technique that uses tiny needles to create microscopic wounds in the skin.  It is therefore not surprising that people considering the procedure usually ask – Is microneedling painful.

How microneedling works

The microneedling device is equipped with tiny needles that cause microscopic injuries in the top layer of the skin.  These micro-injuries activate the body’s natural wound healing response, resulting in the formation of new collagen and elastin that improve skin strength and elasticity.

Is microneedling painful?

Patients may experience some discomfort when the needles penetrate the skin during microneedling, but it is usually well-tolerated.  However, there are factors that can increase the level of discomfort during treatment, such as the length of the needles.

The needles used for microneedling can range in length from .25mm to 1.5mm.  When microneedling is done with the shorter .25mm needles, the procedure is essentially painless.  However, when the longer 1.5mm needles are used the treatment is more uncomfortable, as they go further down into the skin (learn more).

There are a variety of instruments available for performing microneedling, and they don’t have the same number of needles.  Studies have shown that microneedling devices that have more needles are generally more painful than those with fewer needles.

Numbing cream is usually applied to the targeted area before microneedling begins, to help minimize any pain felt during the procedure.

What are the benefits of PRP with my microneedling?

What are the benefits of PRP with my microneedling?

Would you like to have glowing, beautiful, youthful skin?  Microneedling is the answer.  Microneedling is a popular skin treatment that treats a range of skin conditions, and increases collagen in the skin.  However, many skin care professionals are now choosing to combine PRP with microneedling.  But what are the benefits of PRP with microneedling.

Microneedling skin treatment

Microneedling (collagen induction therapy), is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatment that improves skin tone and texture.  Microneedling stimulates the production of collagen, which is an important protein that keeps the skin firm and youthful.

During microneedling, a special device with fine needles is used to create micro-injuries in the outer layer of the skin.  These micro-channels trigger the skin’s natural repair process, resulting in the formation of new collagen and elastin.  Microneedling treats skin issues such as fine lines, uneven texture, and acne scars, and increases the thickness of the skin.

PRP facial rejuvenation

PRP is prepared by drawing a sample of the patient’s blood.  The blood is placed in a centrifuge and spun until the platelets are isolated.   The PRP solution is then injected into the specific areas of concern on the face.

What are the benefits of PRP with my microneedling?

Combining PRP with microneedling enhances aesthetic outcomes, as the platelets contain growth factors that play a significant role in the body’s healing processes.  When combined with microneedling, the growth factors in PRP enhance the regenerative benefits of microneedling.

PRP also increases collagen, so incorporating the two procedures has anti-aging benefits, as it boosts the skin’s natural repair process. Treatment leaves the skin smoother, softer, and more youthful.

Can Dermal Fillers Improve Confidence?

Are you unhappy with the lines and wrinkles on your face?  Dermal fillers can smooth those wrinkles away and revitalize your skin.  There’s no doubt that dermal fillers can enhance your attractiveness and refresh your appearance, but can they also improve confidence?

Reverse signs of aging with dermal fillers

Wrinkles, creases, sunken cheeks, and under-eye bags can make you look older than you are, but dermal fillers can address these concerns and dramatically improve your appearance.  Dermal fillers can fill in wrinkles and creases, augment the cheeks and lips, and refine the jawline, in order to restore a youthful appearance.

Can dermal fillers improve confidence?

There does seem to be a connection between dermal fillers and confidence. Many patients admit that they feel more attractive and satisfied with life after treatment with fillers.

Dermal fillers have a confidence-boosting effect because they reverse tell-tale signs of aging that make people feel self-conscious about how they look.  Fillers can improve overall body image, and people generally feel their best when they look their best.

How dermal fillers work

When it comes to facial rejuvenation, hyaluronic acid (HA) based fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane, are the most popular choice.  HA is a naturally occurring substance in the body that keeps the skin looking youthful and vibrant.

The dermal filler is injected into the area of the face being targeted, and the HA molecules attract and retain water. This plumps the skin, and the smoothing and contouring effects of the filler revitalize the face.
