Is Juvederm Only For Lips

Is Juvederm Only For Lips

When it comes to lip augmentation, Juvederm Volbella is a popular choice for patients because it provides subtle looking results.  Juvederm Volbella is a smooth, lightweight filler that is specially formulated to augment the lips and fill in vertical lip lines. But is Juvederm only for the lips?

Juvederm Collection Of Fillers

Juvederm is a collection of facialfillers that are used to reduce tell-tale signs of aging.  Theyconsist of hyaluronic acid (HA) which is a molecule that occurs naturally in the body and helps skin tissue remain plump and moisturized.

Is Juvederm Only For The Lips

There are different products in the Juvederm collection, and they are designed to treat different areas of the face.   In addition to plumping the lips, Juvederm can also soften wrinkles and folds (Juvederm Ultra Plus), and add volume to the cheeks (Juvederm Voluma).

Juvederm Ultra Plus XC

Juvederm Ultra Plus reduces the appearance of wrinkles and folds, especially nasolabial folds and marionette lines.  Nasolabial folds run from the nose to the corner of the mouth, while marionette linesextend from the corner of the mouth down to the chin.  The results of Juvederm Ultra Plus typically last 6-12 months.

Juvederm Voluma XC

Juvederm Voluma XC corrects age-related volume loss in the cheeks.  Voluma is injected deep into the tissues to plump sagging cheeks, and provide a subtle lift to the mid-face area.  Juvederm Volumaenhances facial contours by restoring volume that’s lost with age.  The results can last 2 years or more.

What is the difference between botox and xeomin?

What is the difference between botox and xeomin?

Botox is the original and most well-known wrinkle relaxer on the market, but there is an alternative known as xeomin that works exactly like botox, and is just as effective.   However, the products are not identical.  So what is the difference between botox and xeomin?

Botox and Xeomin

Botox and xeomin are injectable neurotoxins that consist of botulinum toxin A, which is a toxin that is produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacteria.  Both products are FDA approved for treating dynamic wrinkles (frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet), which are formed by repetitive muscle movement.

Botox and xeomin work by temporarily blocking signals from the nerves that cause the facial muscles to contract.   When the facial muscles are relaxed, the related wrinkles soften and become less visible.  Patient results may vary, but the effects of botox and xeomin generally last 3-6 months.

What is the Difference between Botox and Xeomin?

Whereas botox is formulated with protective proteins, xeomin has no additives.  The presence of the protective proteins in botox can prompt the immune system to produce antibodies that could make some people resistant to the effects of botox.  Since xeomin only contains botulinum toxin A, there is less likelihood that patients will develop a resistance to it.

Also, because botox contains additives, it must be refrigerated before use, but xeomin does not need to be refrigerated.

Botox and xeomin also have different timelines for onset of action.  Botox starts to take effect about 2 days after treatment, but xeomin can take up to 4 days to show results (learn more).

Lip Augmentation: What are my options?

Lip Augmentation: What are my options?

Are you thinking of having lip augmentation but unsure about your options?   There are several treatments available for achieving fuller, more luscious lips, including dermal fillers, fat grafting, and lip implants.

Why lip augmentation?

Lips become thinner with age and lip augmentation increases the fullness of the lips, and gives them a more youthful appearance. The lips are one of the most outstanding facial features and that’s why fuller, shapelier lips enhance facial beauty.

Lip augmentation options

  • Dermal Fillers

Hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane are the fillers most often used to plump the lips.  The fillers are injected into specific parts of the lips, to add volume and definition.   Dermal fillers are a temporary lip enhancement treatment as they typically last 1 year.

  • Fat grafting

Lip augmentation fat grafting is a process in which fat is removed from one part of the body (such as the abdomen or hips), and transferred to the lips, after being purified.  The fat grafts are injected into the lips, to achieve the desired fullness and definition.  Since fat grafting uses the patient’s own tissue, there is little risk of an infection or allergic reaction.   The results of fat grafting can last up to 5 years.

  • Lip implants

Lip augmentation with implants is a procedure in which implants made of soft silicone or dermal tissue, are used to add volume to the lips.  The implants are inserted into the lips through small incisions made in the corners of the mouth.  Lip implants are a long-lasting option for lip enhancement.

How much does botox typically cost?

How much does botox typically cost?

Botox is an innovative cosmetic treatment that temporarily reduces wrinkles in the upper half of the face.  If you are starting to explore botox as a treatment option for wrinkles, you are probably interested in finding out how much botox typically costs, and how it works.

How much does botox typically cost?

Botox is generally priced and sold in units, so the exact cost will depend on the number of units required for each treatment area.  The manufacturers of botox recommend a specific dosage of botox for each area, but some patients may need less.  In addition, men typically need more units of botox because they tend to have bigger facial muscles.

The average cost per unit of botox in New York ranges from $10-$20.  Each treatment area can cost anywhere from $250-$500.

If you need a cost estimate for botox treatment, it is important to consult with a botox provider that has the necessary skill and experience.  A skilled provider will be able to determine how much botox you will need to achieve natural-looking results.

How botox works

Botox works by blocking the nerve signals that cause the muscles to contract and create dynamic wrinkles i.e. forehead wrinkles, frown lines, and crow’s feet.   These wrinkles develop as a result of repetitive facial expressions such as frowning, squinting, and smiling.  The skin loses flexibility over time, and is therefore not able to bounce back easily after these facial expressions are made, and that’s why dynamic wrinkles emerge.

When botox is injected into the facial muscles it causes them to relax.  The muscle relaxation smooths the overlying skin, and minimizes wrinkles.

Is A Non-Surgical Neck Lift Possible?

Is A Non-Surgical Neck Lift Possible?

Are you looking to regain the beautiful neckline you once had, but don’t want to have a surgical neck lift. Sagging skin on the neck and muscle laxity, are two of the most common signs of neck aging that can be corrected with surgery. But is a non-surgical neck lift possible.

Is A Non-Surgical Neck Lift Possible?

Yes, a non-surgical neck lift is possible with Ultherapy. Ultherapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses time-tested ultrasound energy to lift and tighten loose skin on the face, neck, and décolletage. It is the only non-surgical treatment that has been FDA cleared to lift and tighten neck skin.

How does Ultherapy lift the neck?

Ultherapy delivers focused ultrasound energy to the foundation layer beneath the skin, which is the area usually targeted during a surgical facelift. The ultrasound energy stimulates the body’s regenerative process, which results in the production of new collagen that lifts and tightens the underlying neck tissue.

Ultherapy uses ultrasound imaging to enhance the precision of the procedure, as it allows the physician to see the tissue layers being targeted, so that the energy can be applied exactly where it’s needed.

Is there any downtime

Ultherapy is a completely non-invasive treatment, so there is no downtime. Patients are therefore able to resume their normal activities right away.

When will you see results?

Patients can expect to see some improvement almost immediately, but optimal results can take 2-3 months.

Who is a good candidate for a non-surgical neck lift?

The ideal candidates for a non-surgical neck lift are individuals with mild-to-moderate sagging skin, as well as superficial wrinkles in the neck area.

How to Stop Excessive Sweating

How to Stop Excessive Sweating

Do you experience excessive armpit sweating that interferes with your everyday tasks? If yes, you are not alone. Although sweating too much is not life threatening, it can cause significant discomfort and embarrassment, so people with the condition are often anxious to discover how to stop excessive sweating.

Fast facts about excessive sweating

Excessive sweating, known medically as hyperhidrosis, is a common condition that is characterized by extreme sweating in various parts of the body, particularly the hands, feet, and underarms. When severe sweating occurs in the armpits, it is known as axillary hyperhidrosis.

Why do you sweat so much?

Although sweating is completely normal, extreme sweating is not. It is often an indication that the sweat glands are overactive, and are therefore producing more sweat than needed to cool the body.

How to stop excessive sweating

Botox cosmetic injectable treatment can be used to stop excessive underarm sweating. Botox is usually a good option for individuals that have tried other treatments such as prescription-strength antiperspirants, but have not gotten the relief they desire.

How botox treats hyperhidrosis

A tiny needle is used to inject botox into the underarms. Botox is a neurotoxin, so it works by preventing the nerve signals from reaching the muscles. Consequently, when botox is injected into the armpits, it interrupts the nerve activity that would stimulate the sweat glands, so sweating is minimized.

When will I see results?

Most patients notice a significant reduction in underarm sweating within 2-4 weeks of treatment.

How long does botox treatment for excessive sweating last
The results typically last 3-6 months, so follow-up treatments are required.

Is Dysport Like Botox?

Is Dysport Like Botox?

If you are looking for an efficient wrinkle-remover, botox tops the list, because it can certainly give you smoother, younger-looking skin. Although botox is popular and widely used, dysport is another anti-wrinkle product that is now often recommended as an alternative to botox. But is dysport like botox.

Is dysport like botox?

Overall dysport and botox are very similar. They are both wrinkle removers that are made of botulinum toxin type A, which is an injectable neurotoxin.

Dysport and botox both temporarily soften dynamic wrinkles, which are formed as a result of repetitive muscle movement. Expressions such as squinting, laughing, and frowning cause certain facial muscles to contract, resulting in frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet. These are the lines that dysport and botox target.

How dysport and botox work

Dysport and botox work by blocking the release of chemical messengers from the nerves that signal the muscles to contract, thereby reducing muscle movement. Due to the limited muscle movement in the treated area, the wrinkles that appear when the muscles contract become less visible over time.

How long do the effects last?

Dysport and botox last an average of 3-4 months.

Differences between dysport and botox

Although dysport is a lot like botox, there are some differences between the two. Dysport spreads further than botox, so in some instances it may take fewer injections to achieve the desired results. In addition, dysport contains smaller molecules than botox, so it is absorbed more quickly, and therefore has a faster onset time (learn more).

How long does it take to see results with microneedling?

How long does it take to see results with microneedling?

Is your skin looking lackluster? Do you have fine lines and wrinkles that you would like to minimize? If you answered yes to these questions, microneedling may be the right treatment for you. Microneedling is a safe, non-irritating treatment that can address a variety of skin concerns. But how long does it take to see results with microneedling.

What is microneedling and how does it work?

Microneedling or collagen induction therapy is a minimally invasive aesthetic procedure in which a small device is used to create micro injuries in the skin, which stimulate cellular renewal.

The micro-channels trigger the body’s natural wound-healing response causing the cells to regenerate, and new, fresh collagen to develop. The new skin cells restore the youthful glow of the skin, and the additional collagen makes it plumper and firmer.

Most patients need at least 3 treatments to get maximum results with microneedling.

How long does it take to see results with microneedling?

After a microneedling session the skin will be slightly red and swollen for approximately 2-3 days. It usually takes about 7 days to see real improvement in the tone and texture of the skin. However, the process of building new collagen takes time, so it will take several weeks to see the best results.

Are you a good candidate for microneedling?

If you would like to improve the tone and texture of your skin, and fix issues such as discoloration or acne scars, you may be a good candidate for microneedling.

How to Remove My Double Chin Non-Surgically

How to Remove My Double Chin Non-Surgically

Is your double chin ruining your profile? Fat below the chin known medically as submental fat, is often difficult to melt away with diet and exercise, especially if it’s due to genetics. Although chin liposuction is a good treatment option, many people are now turning to non-surgical solutions for their double chin.

How to Remove My Double Chin Non-Surgically

There are several non-surgical treatments for addressing a double chin, including Kybella and CoolMini. Both treatments can dramatically reduce your double chin and contour the area, but they work differently.

Kybella is an FDA approved injectable treatment that can dissolve your double chin without pain, or downtime. Kybella consists of deoxycholic acid, which occurs naturally in the body, and is used to metabolize dietary fat.

How Kybella works

When Kybella is injected into the area below the chin, it breaks down the membrane of the fat cells, so they are eventually destroyed. It typically takes 4-6 Kybella treatments to achieve the desired results.

CoolMini is a non-invasive fat reduction treatment that uses cold temperatures to get rid of stubborn fat below the chin. CoolMini is a part of the CoolSculpting body contouring system that is based on the science of cryolipolysis. It targets specific fat cells, without damaging surrounding tissues.

How CoolMini works

The CoolMini applicator is applied to the area and the cold temperatures target the unwanted fat cells beneath the chin, causing them to crystallize and die. The treated cells are subsequently processed and flushed from the body in the months that follow.
