How much does a facelift cost?

How much does a facelift cost?

If you are looking to transform your face and create a more youthful look, a facelift is the ideal option, because a well-done facelift can take 10-15 years off your appearance. But how much does a facelift cost.

What is a facelift?

A facelift or rhytidectomy is a surgical procedure that is done to rejuvenate the appearance of the face and neck. It addresses sagging facial skin, volume loss in the cheeks, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, jowls, and sagging neck skin. During a facelift, the plastic surgeon will remove excess skin and tighten the underlying tissues.

How much does a facelift cost?

According to the 2018 statistics published by the American Society for Plastic Surgeons, the average cost of a facelift is $7,655. However costs can vary significantly from the national average depending on factors such as geographic location, and surgery-related expenses such as anesthesia fees, surgical facility fees, and surgeon’s fees.

The cost of a facelift won’t be the same for every patient, because the areas on the face that require treatment and the complexity of the operation will vary. In addition, procedures such as a brow lift or eyelid lift may be done in combination with a facelift, in order to get optimal facial rejuvenation results.

Financing the cost of a facelift

Patients that don’t have the cash to finance the cost of a facelift can explore options like CareCredit. Care Credit is a healthcare financing scheme that allows patients to pay for their plastic surgery, by making convenient monthly payments.

Am I A Candidate For A Facelift?

Am I A Candidate For A Facelift?

If you have made the life-changing decision to have a facelift, it’s important to find out if it’s the right procedure for you. A facelift can certainly take years off your appearance, but it’s necessary to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon to find out if you are a good candidate for the procedure.

What is a facelift?

A facelift or rhytidectomy is a popular surgical procedure for men and women wanting to reduce visible signs of aging, and rejuvenate their appearance. A facelift is beneficial for people with moderate-to-severe facial aging. It addresses aging in the lower half of the face, particularly sagging skin from the cheeks to the jawline, deep creases around the mouth, and loose neck skin.

Am I a candidate for a facelift?

If you are in good overall health and your skin is flexible and elastic, you may be a good candidate for a facelift. Patients with skin that is still naturally supple and flexible, generally get better results from a facelift.

People with good facial bone structure are also good candidates for a facelift, because stronger structures provide better support for the skin, and this enhances results.

Candidates for facelift surgery should also have realistic expectations of what a facelift can do for them. While a facelift can enhance your life and improve your appearance, it certainly won’t stop the aging process.

Individuals that are obese or smoke heavily are typically not good candidates for facelift surgery, as these issues can complicate surgery and adversely impact healing.

Which treatments are typically included in a liquid facelift?

Which treatments are typically included in a liquid facelift?

If you have started to experience the first telltale signs of aging, a liquid facelift may be just what you need to turn back the hands of time. it is a safe, effective way to refresh the face and slow signs of aging. But which treatments are typically included in a liquid facelift.

What’s a liquid facelift?

A liquid facelift is a non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedure in which cosmetic injectables are used to plump and ‘lift’ facial tissues. It provides a temporary improvement in fine lines and wrinkles, and restores facial volume lost as a result of the decline in natural skin laxity.

The liquid facelift is also known as a ‘lunchtime facelift’, as it is a quick procedure that can be conveniently done in the lunch break. There is no downtime after the procedure, so patients can go back to work immediately.

A liquid facelift typically lasts 4-6 months, so follow up treatments are needed to maintain the results.

Which treatments are typically included in a liquid facelift?

A liquid facelift typically consists of a combination treatment of dermal fillers and botox cosmetic. Anti-aging injectables such as Juvederm, Radiesse, and Restylane are the fillers that are most often used.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are considered an excellent choice for a liquid facelift because they add instant volume to the face, and smooth fine lines and wrinkles.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) based fillers are the most popular options for a liquid facelift, because they have a similar effect to the HA that is found in the body. HA is an important component that keeps the skin youthful and hydrated.

HA acid fillers are effective for smoothing fine lines and wrinkles and restoring volume to sunken areas, because the HA molecules attract and hold water. Volume loss is especially pronounced below the eyes and in the cheek and temple area, but dermal fillers can be used to plump the cheeks, and give the midface a subtle lift.

How dermal fillers work

Dermal fillers are injected directly into the facial tissue, and work below the skin to add volume and smooth wrinkles.

Below are some of the most common fillers, and the problem areas they are used to treat:

  • Juvederm Vollure/Restylane Refyne – Soften nasolabial folds (deep creases that extend from the nose to the mouth), and marionette lines.
  • Juvederm Voluma – Augment the cheeks.
  • Juvederm Volbella – Enhance the lips.

Botox facial rejuvenation treatment

Botox cosmetic is a brand name for botulinum toxin type A, which is a neuromodulator made from the bacterium clostridium botulinum.

Since botox is a neuromodulator it works by temporarily relaxing the muscles, which makes it suitable for treating dynamic wrinkles. Dynamic wrinkles are wrinkles that form as a result of repeated muscle movement linked to expressions such as frowning and squinting. This includes forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet.

How botox reduces dynamic wrinkles

Botox is injected into the facial muscles, and it blocks the nerve impulses and prevents the muscles from contracting. This causes the skin to smooth out so wrinkles become less visible. The results of botox can be seen about 4-5 days after treatment.

What to expect from a liquid facelift

A liquid facelift creates an overall refreshed appearance, and leaves the skin smoother and more youthful.

The results of a liquid facelift can last 6-12 months, but this depends on the type of fillers used.

Benefits of a liquid facelift

A liquid facelift is a completely non-surgical procedure that only requires a couple of injections, and there are none of the risks associated with surgery. There is also no scarring since no incisions are made. Very tiny needles are used during the process, so no marks are visible after treatment. Also, a liquid facelift is safe for most skin tones and skin types.

Although a liquid facelift is a temporary solution, it can still take years off your appearance and delay cosmetic surgery for several years.

How Can I Get Rid of Wrinkles on My Face?

How Can I Get Rid of Wrinkles on My Face?

Are you wondering how you can get rid of the wrinkles on your face, and restore a more youthful expression? If yes, you’re not alone, because wrinkles are a problem for many people, as they are an unwelcome side-effect of aging. Thankfully, there are ways to minimize these telltale signs of aging, and restore the vitality of your skin.

How can you get rid of wrinkles on your face?
Cosmetic injectables are an effective way to remove wrinkles on the face. However, there are a variety of injectables that can be used based on the type of wrinkles being treated.

Dynamic wrinkles are often very prominent on the face, and are created due to the repetitive muscle movements linked to expressions such as frowning, squinting, and smiling. Xeomin is a cosmetic injectable that is an effective treatment for individuals wanting to reduce wrinkles and achieve a younger appearance.

Why Xeomin
Like botox, Xeomin is a muscle relaxer that is derived from a purified botulinum toxin type A, so it’s beneficial for dynamic facial wrinkles. Consequently, Xeomin can get rid of wrinkles on the forehead, between the brows, and around the eyes (crow’s feet).

Xeomin is injected into the facial muscles and blocks the nerve signals that make the muscles contract. Over time, this leads to an improvement in the wrinkles in the overlying skin. It takes about 7 days for Xeomin to work, and the effects last 3-6 months.

Would you like to wipe those wrinkles off your face with xeomin? Search our directory to find a practice in your area.

What does a browlift do?

Would you like to get rid of those forehead lines that are making you look tired or angry? A brow lift may be the solution for you. But what exactly does a brow lift do, and how can it help your tired-looking eyes.

Age, sun damage, and loss of skin elasticity all contribute to the aging of the face, and the brows and forehead are often the first areas to show signs of aging.

What does a browlift do?
A brow lift can give you beautiful eyes, because it corrects eyebrows that sag or droop, and energizes tired looking eyes.A brow lift gets rid of the vertical lines between the brows, often referred to as ‘worry lines.’ It also eliminates those deep frown lines in the upper face. These improvements give the forehead a smooth, more youthful look and rejuvenate the entire face. The results of brow lift surgery can last up to 10 years.

What’s involved in a browlift?
There are different approaches that can be used when performing a brow lift. However, the procedure typically involves repositioning the skin and soft tissues to restore the brows to a natural, rested position.

Is a brow lift right for you?
If the signs of aging in your face are focused in the forehead region, and your brows have lost their shape and are not as nicely arched as before, you may be a good candidate for a brow lift.

What Can I expect during a facelift procedure?

If you’re thinking about having a facelift done, it’s a good idea to find out what you can expect during a facelift procedure. Take the time to prepare a list of questions to ask your plastic surgeon, so that you’re fully prepared when you decide to undergo the procedure.

Facelift Surgery
A facelift is a surgical aesthetic procedure that is done to rejuvenate the face. It tightens and tones sagging skin, and reduces wrinkles and fine lines. A mini-facelift or a full facelift may be done, depending on the concerns that need to be addressed. Facelift surgery may be performed on its own or in combination with other procedures such as a browlift, or eyelid lift.

What to expect during a facelift procedure
A facelift is done under general anesthesia and can take 2-5 hours, depending on the extent of the work that needs to be doneand the surgical method used.

During a facelift you can expect the surgeon to make incisions that start in the region of the hairline, and extend down behind the ears. This incision gives the surgeon access to the face and neck so that he/she can manipulate the deep SMAS muscle layer below the skin. After the SMAS layer is adjusted, the skin is redraped and put back into position, and fat deposits are also realigned (click to learn more).

If you are considering facelift surgery, be sure to consult with a trained and experienced board certified plastic surgeon, in order to get the best possible results.

What is the difference between facial fat grafting & facial implants?

If you want to rejuvenate your face and restore volume and definition, facial fat grafting and facial implants are both excellent options. But what is the difference between facial fat grafting and facial implants, and which procedure is the right one for you.

Facial fat grafting
Facial fat grafting or fat transfer rejuvenates the face using a patient’s own fat reserves. Common donor areas include the abdomen, flanks, and thighs. The fat is processed and then injected into specific parts of the face where there is volume loss.

Facial implants
Facial implants are designed to restore facial contours, and are typically placed in the cheeks and chin. The outpatient procedure is done using local or general anesthesia, and the implant is inserted via an incision made in the targeted area.

What’s the difference between facial fat grafting and facial implants
Facial fat grafting and facial implants both address facial volume loss, but fat grafting is considered more natural, since it uses the patient’s own tissue. This is in contrast to facial rejuvenation which uses implants that are synthetically derived. There is always the risk of an allergic reaction to the implant, but there’s no chance of that with facial fat transfer.

In addition to adding volume to the face, facial fat grafting also minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Fat grafting can be used on virtually all areas of the face including the cheeks, lips, and lower eyelid region, but facial implants typically focus on the cheeks and chin.

What Skin Concerns can be addressed with facial implants/fat grafting?

If you’d like to rejuvenate your face, and achieve a fresher, more youthful appearance, there are a variety of options to choose from, including facial implants and fat grafting. But what skin concerns can be addressed with facial implants/fat grafting.

What skin concerns can be addressed with facial implants/fat grafting?
One of the major causes of aging is facial volume loss, as it contributes to wrinkles and sagging skin. The loss of fat, especially in the cheeks, jawline, and eye area makes facial contours more pronounced.Facial implants and fat grafting can both address the problem of facial volume loss.

  • Facial implants improve facial volume and rejuvenate contours in areas such as the cheeks and chin. The procedure involves the use of implants to enhance the balance and proportion of the face. Implants are most often placed in the cheeks, chin, and jaw. However, the type and size of the implants used will depend on your specific aesthetic goals.
  • Facial fat grafting or fat transfer is a minimally invasive procedure that involves moving fat from one part of the body where there is excess, and transferring it to the face. The fat is first harvested using a gentle liposuction procedure and is then purified, before being injected in the sunken areas of the face. Fat transfer can be used to add volume to the cheeks and hollows below the eyes. It can also soften the appearance of wrinkles such as marionette lines and nasolabial folds.

Is there a non-surgical way to correct smile lines?

If the smile lines on your face are bothering you, but you don’t want to undergo surgery to fix them, you may be considering a non-surgical option. But is there a non-surgical way to correct smile lines.

What are smile lines?
Smile lines, also known as nasolabial folds, are the deep lines and folds on the face that run from either side of the nose and extend to the corner of the mouth. They are created by the repeated movement of the underlying muscles when you smile. They become more noticeable as you get older, because of the diminished skin elasticity.

Is there a non-surgical way to correct smile lines?
Yes, smile lines can be corrected with cosmetic injectables such as Radiesse. Radiesse is FDA approved for filling out nasolabial folds, and works very well in that area.

Radiesse is comprised of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres that are suspended in an aqueous gel. When injected into the skin Radiesse stimulates collagen, and this restores volume to the tissues below the surface of the skin. The added volume minimizes the appearance of facial wrinkles and folds, leaving the skin looking youthful and healthy. The results achieved with Radiesse are immediate and long lasting.

Radiesse injectable treatment takes about 15 minutes to complete. Possible side-effects include facial bruising, swelling, and redness, but these are usually short-lived.
