Is there a non-surgical way to correct smile lines?

If the smile lines on your face are bothering you, but you don’t want to undergo surgery to fix them, you may be considering a non-surgical option. But is there a non-surgical way to correct smile lines.

What are smile lines?
Smile lines, also known as nasolabial folds, are the deep lines and folds on the face that run from either side of the nose and extend to the corner of the mouth. They are created by the repeated movement of the underlying muscles when you smile. They become more noticeable as you get older, because of the diminished skin elasticity.

Is there a non-surgical way to correct smile lines?
Yes, smile lines can be corrected with cosmetic injectables such as Radiesse. Radiesse is FDA approved for filling out nasolabial folds, and works very well in that area.

Radiesse is comprised of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres that are suspended in an aqueous gel. When injected into the skin Radiesse stimulates collagen, and this restores volume to the tissues below the surface of the skin. The added volume minimizes the appearance of facial wrinkles and folds, leaving the skin looking youthful and healthy. The results achieved with Radiesse are immediate and long lasting.

Radiesse injectable treatment takes about 15 minutes to complete. Possible side-effects include facial bruising, swelling, and redness, but these are usually short-lived.
